Harley Museum & Gina Adirondacks Videos 1-28-15

[Happy Humpday from Hog Heaven at Sporty's Iron Duke Saloon 1-27-15]

Since I didn't film any music last weekend, and all of Dec. pretty much, I thought I'd share some other Adirondack area wonders with you.

[Old building and tree that caught my eye 1-27-15]

Below is a playlist of all the local area non-music videos I've made over the last 2 months (most yesterday) covering everything from a gazillion (so it seemed) deer just sitting still and staring at me, to farm animals (horses, roosters, lazy bulls and curious hogs), winter storms Damon & Juno, to local tourist and biker Harley Museum in Minerva Sporty's Iron Duke Saloon, to finally crossing one of the items off my bucket list, shooting a guy, albeit a PINK .22 long rifle, not the pistol I was expecting, lol.

[Sporty's Iron Duke Saloon Harley Davidson Motorcycle Museum]

Some of my unintentional commentary is hilarious so I left it in, hoping you'll get as many laughs as I did. From moments of hilarity to standing in wonder and awe, to freezing in the zero temps and driving through whiteout snow, I believe you will truly enjoy this playlist over any other I've shared so far, but maybe I'm wrong? Music is why we are here usually, but who says we can't go off the beaten path, and boy did I do that yesterday...

Playlist of all the videos here:

Below is the gun shooting hilarity video:

Just a sample of one the cute deer standing all over the woods in Minerva & Olmstedville NY Weds. For the rest of the wildlife videos, see the playlist above:

Lastly one of the videos from Sporty's Iron Duke Saloon showing off all the antique Harley Davidson Motorcycles that Hell's Angels would have ridden among others.

As you can imagine, I can't wait to go back with fruit for all the animals & get them eating out of my hand, shoot a 7mm next time and finish off with a nice dark ale at Sporty's, located at 1723 Rt. 28N, Minerva, NY 12851, phone: 518-251-5260. :)

ShellBee at Hemlock Ledge 5-24-14

Change of venue to The Hemlock Ledge here in Chestertown, NY for last night's 5-24-14 live performance by the duo band ShellBee, bass guitarist & vocalist Michelle Howland (aka Bass Diva) and acoustic guitarist, loop pedal expert & vocalist Brian Conway from 9:30p to close.

I love the Ledge's dark oatmeal stout ale, something my regular venue lacks. As a venue, it has a large bar area and an equal sized dining room where delicious food and specials are served every day from 4:30p onward. The Hemlock Ledge has a very Adirondack feel to its decoration and design, a casual family atmosphere that is warm, welcoming and comfortable. Occasional live events are held on Saturday nights, this was my first time seeing a band or filming there.

I hadn't seen Michelle perform in about a year, other than a few jams with other local bands here and there, so when I saw her Facebook announcement I decided to go check out this show. The duo have been performing locally for a year now, and I'm excited that I finally got to see them, and am looking forward to filming them again this year at summer festivals.

Brian plays his acoustic guitar like I have never seen done, kind of like classical guitar and piano applied to the strings, plus accompanies himself on a loop pedal which adds amazing depth to their sound. It's hard to remember this is a duo with no drums.

Michelle is one of, maybe even THE best, bass guitarists in the region. Add her passionate, sultry vocal talents and she's a force to be reckoned with. Beautiful and a little bit shy (except while performing), she's very friendly and writes her own music and lyrics (which I didn't get to hear last night). As a team, Brian and Michelle also create their own originals that I hope to get on film later this summer.

Featured in the video below, Michelle Howland really slaps the bass on this one, what an excellent cover with Brian Conway's fingers dancing all over his acoustic guitar & their harmonies hauntingly matched :)

Below is a playlist of all 7 videos from last night's show:

Chestertown Events - Car Hop, Live Music & Toga Party 5-9-14

Spring seems to have sprung here in Chestertown, NY, with too many events to count this weekend, starting last night on May 9, 2014 with the 1st Car Hop of the season, live music at the Carol Theater to support the Adirondack Performing Arts Council (Steve Smith Band), Dylan Joseph playing at the car show and at Panther Mountain Pub (the P-House hosted most of these events), then on Saturday an ATV ride starting at 11am, a Toga Party this evening and live band Flipside playing at Panther Mountain Inn's pub.

There is definitely not enough of me to go around but I captured many of the exciting moments to share. I'll be adding photos and videos as the weekend progresses, for now these are from last night. More to come :-)

[Marty with his trophy from last season]

Below is one of the most thrilling moments of the car show for me, thanks to Marty for making my evening with his burnouts and quarter mile run, by request.

Below are a few videos from the live music events of 5-9-14:

A new young local talent, Dylan Joseph is working even harder than me this weekend, playing live just about everywhere.

Steven Smith band donated their performance to raise money for the Adirondack Performing Arts Council at the Carol Theater in Chestertown, NY, a free event accepting donations to bring more arts & events to our region of the southern Adirondacks.

Much more to come as the weekend progresses. I'll be at the Toga Party tonight, but you won't see me in a sheet, not unless I get 3 sheets to the wind, lol.

July 4th 2013 Weekend Car Show, Fireworks & Bands

July 4th 2013 Weekend Car Show, Bands & Fireworks Festival

[All Photography by Gina Jordan, all rights reserved.]

This July 4th was an incredibly busy week in my area, with many free events held in Chestertown & North Creek, NY as well as surrounding towns. I attended, photographed & filmed the Car & Bike Show Friday plus the live band Cosmic Jackson the same evening at Panther Mountain Inn, Chestertown, NY; then the North Creek, NY fireworks & music festival, Ski Bowl Park at Gore Mountain where live music played all afternoon through after the 24-minute fireworks.

Some of the bands & events I covered included the Car & Bike show, Decadence, Cosmic Jackson, MTV Band, plus many more I didn't film. The videos are linked & shown at the bottom of this post.

The Car & Bike entries were nearly all new-to-me (& the show/area) vehicles including a 1937 Chevy Coupe, A Ural Wolf and Harley Davidson Trike. [See album link below].

[Fireworks image I captured 7-6-13]

I decided not to upload the 24 minute long fireworks video this year, having chosen a boggy field (after dark so I couldn't see where I was laying down, lol) to lay my blanket in, I was covered in dozens of mosquitos, and could not hold still. So I gave up photographing well before the finale, sad to say. Next time, I need to bathe in bug spray first, and watch where I put my blanket, as laying right under the fireworks was not a good perspective for filming, not to mention getting covered with flaming ashes! I laugh at my screw ups, so you can too.

For all the photos from the Festival fireworks & bands
see my Flickr album at:

One of the great features at North Creek Ski Bowl was the snowmaking machine that ran all day into the night, keeping everyone more than comfy with an icy mist. As a result, that night was one of the coolest in weeks in this area, at least in the Ski Bowl. I feel sorry for the rest of the region without such relief available. See the panorama video below for the snowmaker in action on the slope.

[MTV Band covering Some Kind of Wonderful, with panorama view of the crowd]

Cosmic Jackson, one of my top favorite local bands, performed Friday night from 9p to 1a at Panther Mountain Inn's pub, Chestertown, NY. A jam band that often plays 7+ minute long songs, mostly classic rock & blues, I'm often mesmerized by Chris Schempp on the lead guitar. I only uploaded 2 videos from their show that night, and one from their festival performance the following evening after the fireworks.

For Cosmic Jackson band info, see http://www.cosmicjackson.com/home.html

For Decadence Band Info, see http://www.reverbnation.com/decadencemusic1

Panther Mountain Inn provides free live music every Friday night in the pub (for adults of course) and free car show events monthly (family friendly!), so come on up and join the fun.

This coming Weds. July 10, 2013 I'll be filming the downtown music festival here in Chestertown, NY as well, with 2 free live bands from 4-8:30p, Flipside & The Master Cylinders, all are welcome to come and enjoy the evening at this family friendly event.

And last, a video of me enjoying myself Friday night doing shots with "dirty" names, lol. Thanks Cheryl & Willie ;-)

Finger Diddle LIVE 6-28-13

On June 28th, 2013 the band Finger Diddle performed live at the Panther Mountain Inn, Chestertown, NY from about 8p-12a. This was the 1st time I got to film them in the 2 years I've been in the area. There are 7 videos/songs from their show, plus 2 of a cool 1956 Chevy that was parked outside.

Playing acoustic electric guitar with a drummer, both doing vocals, Finger Diddle performed several blues songs, classic rock and even a Led Zeppelin I missed getting on film unfortunately.

Check out the band for info, booking and more:

Classic Car Show & Willie Playmore Band 6-21-13

[1st place trophy winner Michael Maresca with his family proudly standing in front of the 1970 Zenith level SS Chevelle he has had since he was a boy, all original parts except exhaust and only 8K miles, wow!]

 [1920 Model-T]

An awesome Friday night here in Chestertown, NY at the Panther Mountain Inn & Pub, starting with a classic car show from 5:30-9p, then Willie Playmore Band performed their classic & southern rock jams from 8p-12:30a. With a full moon, and so much excitement at these free events, it's no wonder everyone is smiling and laughing in my videos from the night. Below are videos and playlists of the cars and band, all in one place.

These events are free and all are welcome to attend. The classic car shows are held monthly & there are live bands playing every Friday night with no cover charge at door, so plan a night up in the southern Adirondacks for you and the whole family, enter your own muscle or classic car into the show, or just come watch & vote for your top 3 faves to win trophies for that month's show.

[2nd place winner, Chevy Impala owned by Holly Palmer]

Some of the vehicles featured were a 50's GMC Pickup, a 60's Ford Fairlane, several 60's SS Chevelles (it seemed to be a Chevy heavy evening!), 70's Corvettes (& newer), a gorgeous El Camino, Malibu, Impala, and a 1920's Model-T just to name a few! To end the car show, all the entry vehicles do a cruise through town, a thrill to see and hear all these throbbing engines running down the road.

[3rd place winner SS Chevelle owned by Holly's Dad, Palmer]

I rode in the lead 1978 red convertible Corvette, filming the entire ride from every angle, and embarrassing myself with my giddy giggles and joy, but I don't care ;-)  Where would you like to see me ride in the next show?

Below is the playlist of the 9 car show videos I did last night, in 1080i HD:

After the excitement of the car show, it was a relief to sit in the air-conditioned pub and watch one of my favorite local bands, Willie Playmore, performing classic & southern rock hits until the wee hours.

Below is a playlist of the 2013 videos I've filmed of them so far, starting with the 4 from last night:

To view all the photographs from the show, follow this link (you don't need an account to view & share images on google plus, as you would on FB, but I did also upload them to facebook):

Americade Bikers, band Sons of Octomom & Bass Diva at P-House 5-7-13

I wasn't going to film on Friday night, in fact, wasn't even going to go see the show. BUT a couple friends begged me to go, and I rarely leave without a camcorder because I don't want to miss something rare. So Friday June 7, 2013, The Sons of Octomom band played at Panther Mountain Inn here in Chestertown, NY from about 8p-12:20a, and man am I glad I went! The lighting was great for these videos, twelve in all, not counting the funny t-shirt video.

Sons of Octomom band consists of Eric Peter on lead vocals and acoustic lead guitar, his 19 year old son Tyler Peter on drums (no nepotism here, he is just one of the most phenomenal drummers I've ever seen), and Jeff Belding on bass guitar.

Eric Peter, leader of Sons of Octomom and numerous other bands.

On this rare evening, Michelle "Bass Diva" Howland performed 2 songs with the band, Some Kind of Wonderful as lead singer and bass guitarist while Jeff took a break, and another, Proud Mary, as backup vocals, and she nailed it! The crowd went wild for her as usual, not that Jeff isn't a favorite bass player as well, his energy cranks up the crowd, not to mention his talent on those strings.

Here's one of my favorite songs of the night, by a band I hadn't heard of before and now need to explore much more of, Camel Walk by Southern Culture on the Skids.

Since this past week was the annual event in Lake George, NY for Americade, there were plenty of bikers enjoying the show and a break from the rain, the parking lot packed with gorgeous motorcycles, which I was forced to take a couple photos of this wicked ape-hanger custom that glittered like diamonds even though it was pitch black dark out.

Too bad the Sanyo GH4 camcorder isn't ideal for photography, but the pics below should still give you an idea of the awesomeness of the bike.

There were a group from Westchester County, NY I had a drink with before leaving, and this cool older dude had the best t-shirt of them all in the bar that night. While trying to take a pic of the shirt, I pressed the video button and ended up with a short video of the shirt too (See the playlist for that video along with the other 12 of the band, at bottom of this page).
OLD GUYS RULE, yes, they do! ;-)

And finally, the playlist of videos from the show, starting with Tyler Peter on drums doing a Buddy Holly cover, Not Fade Away:

The band Sons of Octomom cover rockabilly, surfer music and folk, with a few surprises thrown in from classic rock and reggae, this is a group not to be missed. Check them out fully at http://ericpetermusic.com/
or on FB at: https://www.facebook.com/eric.peter.796

Steven Smith Band Live at Ashes Pub 5-31-13

8 new videos in the playlist below that I filmed at Ashes Pub in Warrensburg, NY on Friday 5-31-13, of Steven L. Smith Band & Metamorphose Jones. The video below links to the playlist at: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD9CA09B04E5CF4E7

One of my favorites of the show, Faces - Ooh La La cover 9 minute jam:

Get a peek of me at 0:04 and 3:34 or so, since our designated driver Chris filmed this one while I took a break:

On May 31, 2013 Steven L Smith Band & Metamorphose Jones performed at Ashes Pub http://www.ashespubandgrill.com/ in Warrensburg, NY. I was lucky enough to be there to film 7 videos that night, having not seen them in nearly a year. The place was packed wall to wall and the dance floor full all night long.

For more info on the band, official music videos, schedule and booking, see their website at: http://stevenlsmithband.com

Lastly, a little video of me at home, done on a dare, getting ready to head out for the night:

Cosmic Jackson & Katy Cole 5-24-13

On May 24, 2013 Cosmic Jackson performed, with Katy Cole of Decadence on vocals, from 9p-1a at Panther Mountain Inn, Chestertown, NY. For more info & booking, contact the bands at the links below:

http://www.cosmicjackson.com/home.html

http://www.reverbnation.com/decadencemusic1

Playlist of videos from last Friday 5-24-13 at Panther Mountain Inn:

Songs Filmed Include (in order):
  1. Bob Marley-Get Up, Stand Up
  2. Janis Joplin-Me & Bobby McGee
  3. Sublime-What I Got
  4. Lynyrd Skynyrd-Sweet Home Alabama (snippet of 1:22)
  5. Johnny Cash-Folsom Prison Blues

Live HD video from the show filmed, edited & uploaded by Gina Jordan, 5-24-13.

Unfortunately my new Canon camcorder is malfunctioning, LCD screen issues, so I used my older Sanyo, but without good lighting in the venue or band provided lights, the videos always come out darker than I like and degrade the HD quality. I've added effects to some that give a psychedelic look instead.

Classic Car Hop 5-3-13 at Panther Mountain Inn, Chestertown, NY

My photos of the trophy winners and video compilation of the classic car cruise from the 1st car hop of this season, with their throbbing motors revving, burnouts (blue Chevelle especially), and the classic car cruise through town heading out and coming back in, get your muscle car thrills by checking this out. :-)

During the warmer months, Panther Mountain Inn on Route 9 in Chestertown, NY (exit 25 off I-87) hosts a monthly classic car hop where all are welcome to attend this free event and vote on their top 3 winners. The results are tallied and the 3 winners presented with trophies right before they do a cruise of all the vehicles from the show, through town.

Generally the event starts at 6p, the final votes are in by 7p, trophies are awarded about 7:15 and the cruise takes place shortly after 7:30p. All cars all welcome to compete, paying a small fee to enter a vehicle into the show. Last year we even had a few late model cars. This was the 1st car show of the season, and had only about ten cars entered, so odds are great to win in these shows. If you have a beauty of a vehicle to show off, why not come to the next one?

Three trophies were awarded in the following order:

1st place-Red Ford Falcon (1965/67 I believe) owned by Marty

2nd place-Silver SS Chevelle owned by Palmer

3rd place-Maroon Malibu owned by the Brennans (this was their 1st time ever entering their car in a show, anywhere, and I think they were a bit shell shocked to win :)

I also photographed the vehicles (from every angle, each one) and will post a link to the album once it is uploaded.
