North Country Hardship Fund's 4th AnnualCabin Fever Party 1-31-15

All the news, videos, bands, videos, links and playlist in one place at Adirondacks Music blog! Finally!

What a party! 3 live bands playing multiple sets each all night long from 8p-1a on January 31, 2014 at Panther Mountain Inn, Chestertown, NY who hosted the benefit. The $5 cover charge was well worth supporting this local charity, not to mention all the entertainment, and door prizes galore (of which I didn't win any, not even the Harley paper bag I coveted, lol)

The 3 featured bands were Collette & the Mudcats, Larry Mar & the 11th Hour Band and a new group, the 1979 Band, all of whom were incredible! Following is a featured video from each band, band photos, band links and more! At the very bottom of this page is the playlist of all the videos from the show, over 25 or so total!

Let's start with the familiar favorite Collette and the Mudcats, who can do Robert Johnson like no one's business and belt out their own originals that rock and roll you, of whom I did not get a photo that night, but below is a gif I made from a previous show. They play mostly blues faves as well as their own original music which has been released on an EP CD already. You can find more info and booking at their website:
http://colletteandthemudcats.com/

Let's feature one of their blues original songs, What Have I Done, something we can ALL relate to, right?

Larry Mar & the 11th Hour Band were also new to me, but luckily I did get plenty of photos (and videos of ALL the bands of course) of them. However they do not have a website & I have no contact info for them at this time, sorry.

[Larry Mar & the 11th Hour Band]

And for the featured Larry Mar & the 11th Hour video, let's try this classic 70's song by Spirit:

And last but far from least, we have the newly formed 1979 Band, and I must say I was a bit mesmerized by their guitar player Jim Dower (more photos of him and his guitar below these), Joe McDowwell from Collette and the Mudcats played bass and I can't remember the drummer's name (poor guy, he deserves a serious mention because I've never heard someone make a 4 drum kit sound like Led Zeppelin's Bonham was on those skins!). This band is awesome, an understatement actually, you'll have to see them to believe it, and I'll post a few videos below so you'll know just what I mean. If you get a change to see them, GO! This band can be reached on their website (and it links to the Facebook page as well) at:

[Collage of mostly Jim Dower on his guitar & the 1979 Band & Larry Mar Band]

Now, Jim Dower will probably turn a bit purple with shyness, but I had a kind of fixation on him and his guitar ever since the 1st time I saw him sit in with another band months ago. Well, now he's playing lead guitar in his own band, and I'm sorry to say, instead of getting the entire 1979 Band in photos, I somehow kept gravitating back to the face averted shy Dower, maybe next time when I see the band for an entire evening, I'll be able to include a photo of the full band? Guess I have a thing for guitars, drummers, shoot, I just have a thing for good music, and I can't help myself, get over it ;-)

For an brand new formed band, these guys are tight as hell! One of my favorite covers of the night by 1979 Band blew me away at how exquisitely & spot on were the musicianship of this featured video, but please check out their Cream song (which heads the playlist at bottom), it is OMFG unbelievably magnificent too:

And lastly, the playlist of ALL the videos from the show, in no order, except I must confess my favorites kind of lead the list, so they are in no order as far as band names. Enjoy and please share with your music loving family and friends!

Fade To Blues At P-House 10-24-14

Fade To Blues performed their live blues show at Panther Mountain Inn, Chestertown, NY on Oct. 24, 2014 from 9p to 1a. Believe it or not, this was their 1st song of the night and one of my all time fave blues songs ever, so I'm glad I was able to film this to share here. What an experience, live blues is sometimes so hard to find up here in the boonies.

[Photo taken by Gina Jordan at show 10-24-14]

Fade to Blues had Hank (far left) subbing on that night for their regular guitar player, and Hank rocked that old style guitar, with such a sweet sound & a shiny chrome finish to his axe.

These guys are down to earth & very very talented, specializing in Texas blues. They perform Stevie Ray Vaughan like I've never heard before. Check them out if you get the chance! For more info and booking, see their band link below:

http://fadetoblues.com/

I only got a few videos that night as I'd been sick with the flu for several weeks & ended up home early. I'll be out next week, and I'm finally over the flu this weekend, just in time for the show on Halloween for the costume party. Join me :-)

Fade 2 Blues 6-13-14

Fade to Blues are normally a 3-piece band but on this night they had an awesome keyboard player friend of theirs, Skip Smaldone of Glens Falls NY, plus several guest musicians, singers and a few dancers & other silliness going on. Crowd pleasing music that had us singing along (yes even me, ==blush==) and the dance floor packed wall to wall most of the evening.

[The 3 regular members of Fade to Blues]

[Their awesome keyboard friend Chris I think is his name]

Unfortunately I had pulled my back out the night before their show, so I wasn't able to get my usual active angles, though I got plenty of close ups and unusual perspectives despite the pain, I just couldn't help myself, the music moved me so deeply I had to try and capture that energy to share with music lovers like me, who don't just listen, we FEEL the rhythm and share in the energy flowing.

This video below starts the 22 song playlist of Fade to Blues videos from 6-13-14.
Playing true West Texas blues, some of the best I've ever seen or heard, both covers and original music, the Fade to Blues band performed live on Friday June 13, 2014 at Panther Mountain Inn Pub in Chestertown, NY from 9p-1a, both a full moon and Friday the 13th, a rare night indeed.

I really loved the energy of these long blues jams, with some songs 13 minutes long and most over 5 minutes, incredible lead guitar solos and keyboard solos. There were even a few sexy men & women who danced for the camera, front and center! I know we'll be seeing a lot more of this band in the months to come, and I plan to re-film another of their shows ASAP. Maybe next time I'll be able to even dance & leave the camcorder on a tripod for once (just briefly, you know I'm a hand held gal all the way ;)

Toga Party & Flipside Live 5-10-14

[Tom Ellifritz channeling John Belluci]

Flipside played live in Panther Mountain Inn Pub, Chestertown, NY on May 10, 2014 during the 1st ever Toga Party. At 1st we all thought it was going to be a dud, only 5 people there at 9pm when the band started, only the band in toga costumes, but within a half an hour the flood of people started streaming in and never stopped until 4am! Wall to wall people all night long kept the 2 costumed barkeeps running, and the band never played better (on a night I was filming anyway).

I still have a bunch of photos to add for the car show & live music events on Friday 5-9-14 (to yesterday's post), but have uploaded a few below from the toga party I took on my Galaxy Note 3, with a link to the full album following.

For all the videos from last night's show, just click to start the video below, and the rest will play in order. Enjoy :-D

I've posted all the images from the toga party on both Facebook and Google Plus, for the revelers to download and share. Here's the G-Plus Album Link:

Chestertown Events - Car Hop, Live Music & Toga Party 5-9-14

Spring seems to have sprung here in Chestertown, NY, with too many events to count this weekend, starting last night on May 9, 2014 with the 1st Car Hop of the season, live music at the Carol Theater to support the Adirondack Performing Arts Council (Steve Smith Band), Dylan Joseph playing at the car show and at Panther Mountain Pub (the P-House hosted most of these events), then on Saturday an ATV ride starting at 11am, a Toga Party this evening and live band Flipside playing at Panther Mountain Inn's pub.

There is definitely not enough of me to go around but I captured many of the exciting moments to share. I'll be adding photos and videos as the weekend progresses, for now these are from last night. More to come :-)

[Marty with his trophy from last season]

Below is one of the most thrilling moments of the car show for me, thanks to Marty for making my evening with his burnouts and quarter mile run, by request.

Below are a few videos from the live music events of 5-9-14:

A new young local talent, Dylan Joseph is working even harder than me this weekend, playing live just about everywhere.

Steven Smith band donated their performance to raise money for the Adirondack Performing Arts Council at the Carol Theater in Chestertown, NY, a free event accepting donations to bring more arts & events to our region of the southern Adirondacks.

Much more to come as the weekend progresses. I'll be at the Toga Party tonight, but you won't see me in a sheet, not unless I get 3 sheets to the wind, lol.

Frank Palangi LIVE show 5-2-14

Friday night Frank Palangi performed a live solo acoustic show at Panther Mountain Inn here in Chestertown, NY & I filmed 9 videos from his 3 sets between 8:30p-12:30a. With a voice that sounds like a cross between Johnny Cash & James Hetfield, Frank is always a pleasure to go out & see, hear, experience.

With 3 CDs out and hard at work on a 4th, Frank is a prolific musical artist who writes and records his own music & lyrics, with a full band sound on his CDs. He's opened for Alice in Chains at SPAC and recently opened for 3 Doors Down at the Egg. His music is somewhere between heavy metal and rock and roll, with a grunge-ish flavor, he performs his originals and covers of Godsmack, Creed, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty & many more. Frank Palangi is a crowd pleasing artist whose music never grows old.

An extremely down to earth, friendly & likeable guy, Frank greets fans with real pleasure & is never arrogant. For more info or to contact Frank for booking, check out his many websites all over the web:

Download his free songs at:

Just a sample of merchandise Frank has available at all his shows.

Below is the playlist of live performances I've filmed of Frank Palangi, starting with the 9 videos from the 5-2-14 show, followed by the older shows featuring both original music and covers.

Debra Eves models the spirit of the 50's & the '37 Chevy Coupe

Another month, and another classic car hop & cruise around town here in the southern Adirondack mountains. Ride along with me in a 1965 GTO with a 389ci motor, check out the 1937 Chevy Coupe among many other cool cars & trucks. This video is a compilation of the trophy winners, a panorama view of the cars & crowd, followed by an exhilarating drive in a growling classic "goat".

These monthly car hop events, open to all models and year vehicles (not just classics), are free family friendly gatherings for all to attend and enter the competition for 3 trophies! Children can compete in a coloring contest for cash or gift certificate prizes. Car show's are held from 6-8:45p or so, 50/50 raffle, coloring contest winner and trophies are awarded about 8:15, the cruise at 8:30p, followed by live music down at the pub, also no charge!

1st place, an antique & cherry condition 1937 Chevy Coupe

3rd place, a classic blue beauty of a SS Chevelle

Following the car show, Dennis Dross performed live at Panther Mountain Inn Pub, Chestertown NY from 9p-1a on Aug. 2, 2013. Many guest vocalists joined in, including Michelle Howland, AKA Bass Diva, so check out all the videos in the playlist. Americade Bikers, band Sons of Octomom & Bass Diva at P-House 5-7-13

I wasn't going to film on Friday night, in fact, wasn't even going to go see the show. BUT a couple friends begged me to go, and I rarely leave without a camcorder because I don't want to miss something rare. So Friday June 7, 2013, The Sons of Octomom band played at Panther Mountain Inn here in Chestertown, NY from about 8p-12:20a, and man am I glad I went! The lighting was great for these videos, twelve in all, not counting the funny t-shirt video.

Sons of Octomom band consists of Eric Peter on lead vocals and acoustic lead guitar, his 19 year old son Tyler Peter on drums (no nepotism here, he is just one of the most phenomenal drummers I've ever seen), and Jeff Belding on bass guitar.

Eric Peter, leader of Sons of Octomom and numerous other bands.

On this rare evening, Michelle "Bass Diva" Howland performed 2 songs with the band, Some Kind of Wonderful as lead singer and bass guitarist while Jeff took a break, and another, Proud Mary, as backup vocals, and she nailed it! The crowd went wild for her as usual, not that Jeff isn't a favorite bass player as well, his energy cranks up the crowd, not to mention his talent on those strings.

Here's one of my favorite songs of the night, by a band I hadn't heard of before and now need to explore much more of, Camel Walk by Southern Culture on the Skids.

Since this past week was the annual event in Lake George, NY for Americade, there were plenty of bikers enjoying the show and a break from the rain, the parking lot packed with gorgeous motorcycles, which I was forced to take a couple photos of this wicked ape-hanger custom that glittered like diamonds even though it was pitch black dark out.

Too bad the Sanyo GH4 camcorder isn't ideal for photography, but the pics below should still give you an idea of the awesomeness of the bike.

There were a group from Westchester County, NY I had a drink with before leaving, and this cool older dude had the best t-shirt of them all in the bar that night. While trying to take a pic of the shirt, I pressed the video button and ended up with a short video of the shirt too (See the playlist for that video along with the other 12 of the band, at bottom of this page).
OLD GUYS RULE, yes, they do! ;-)

And finally, the playlist of videos from the show, starting with Tyler Peter on drums doing a Buddy Holly cover, Not Fade Away:

The band Sons of Octomom cover rockabilly, surfer music and folk, with a few surprises thrown in from classic rock and reggae, this is a group not to be missed. Check them out fully at http://ericpetermusic.com/
